This is the Philippe who may be inferred to have left a bequest to Isaac and Estiennaz, children of the late Pierre Dutoit dit ès André, if we have correctly understood a document of Daniel Antoine Jossevel, notary at Moudon, 27 oct 1730. We believe he is the Philippe Dutoit who appears as a sponsor at the baptism of his nephew Isaac Philippe Dutoit, son of Pierre, 05 sep 1686. These inferences are confirmed by the discovery of his verbal testament, dictated 10 jan 1689, and recorded in the register of the cour de justice of Chavannes (ACV B i l 264). He left his 100 florins of his estate to his godson Isaac Philippe Dutoit, son of his brother Pierre, and all the rest to his brother David Dutoit, with additional mention of the possible estate of his brother Samuel. Not surprisingly, his brothers Pierre and Baltazard protested, but the terms of the testament seem to have been followed.

He is mentioned in the 1670 testament of his aunt Marie Dorothée Buttet as her godson. By 01 dec 1685, he had been "for a long time" out of the country; his brothers Philippe, Pierre, and Baltazard reported to the cour de justice of Chavannes (ACV B i l 264) that they had received some letters from him, and they petitioned to secure his share of their inheritance, assisted by Abraham Frossard and by Isaac Dutoit their cousin. His brother Philippe dictated a verbal testament 10 jan 1689, reported in the same register of the cour de justice, including mention of the estate of Samuel, implying that they were not sure at that time if Samuel were still alive. Later that year, two of the brothers asked the court to distribute Samuel's estate, but the brother David did not agree, indicating he had not seen any proof of Samuel's death. Finally, the brothers reported on 09 jun 1689 that they had received a letter from Daniel Papaux of Moudon, dated 15 may 1689 at Ypres, Flanders, reporting that Samuel was indeed dead. The circumstances were not mentioned, and no further information seems to have been recorded.

Mentioned in the testament of his mother. Could he actually be the child whose baptism appears to read "Daniel"? The two names can be easily confused. Some relationships in this family are clarified by records of Daniel Antoine Jossevel, notary at Moudon. He is noted working as a granger at Belregard in 1722 (Daniel Antoine Jossevel, notary at Moudon). His mother's testament says he "may" marry Ursule Badoux. He definitely married Dorothée Rochettaz. (Or is he the Abraham David son of Daniel b. 1662?)

Son of Claude Dutoit (1601), wife Susanne cited in 1611. A Pierre Dutoit son of André who appears at baptism in 1615 is probably his illegitimate son baptised in 1591. We assume André is the progenitor of the Dutoit lines known as "ès Andrey". André appears many times in notarial records at Vevey, e.g. those of Jean Maquelin, selling grain, at least as early as 1604. By 1628, his son Pierre is acting as his representative in grain transactions at Vevey.
