3 September Looking for Le Pâquis

We went to Chexbres to look for MFK Fisher's house... but were distracted by these flowers at the station. This is not a wild display! IMG 2015 IMG 2016
IMG 2017 IMG 2018 Possibly the seeds came from the Co-op IMG 2020 A Nepal night in Chexbres
We didn't make it We headed toward a street in Chexbres with the word "Pâquis" in its name momentarily distracted by the view looking back could it be here?
or here? apple art nice to be out, but this isn't the place This isn't it either Hotel Alpina
This isn't it A little garden shed on the outskirts IMG 2037 said outskirts still enjoying ourselves
this looked promising it matches some of the details MFK listed but not all a fountain Oddly MFK is not listed here as an important writer definitely not here
but interesting anyway then we met this guy who claimed to be the only one who remembers the Americans at Le Pâquis! He told us how to go down through the vineyards IMG 2051
IMG 2052 IMG 2053 to the Cantonal Highway down the highway IMG 2057
hmmm looks promising this view matches those given for Le Pâquis and this is the house that now occupies the site owned by a real estate person from Geneva
the original house burned in the 1950s and the site renovated only recently across the road, La Domaine des Faverges, just as MFK wrote IMG 2066 quite a beautiful site IMG 2069
IMG 2070 IMG 2071 we pushed on to Ogoz IMG 2075 sheesh!
overgrown path with intrepretative materials Can it Get any better? St-Saph in the light with lake near the church
down toward the center perfect calm through the village dinner at home excess chasselas recuperated from the ground in Lavaux
tasty but lots of seeds something new: a whole fermented cabbage head IMG 2091 vaguely Balkan lots of leaves
garlic and roast pepper making stuffed cabbage rolls stuffing making the rolls IMG 2098
IMG 2099 even tide IMG 2101 off to an (abortive) concert Tracey in the kitchen when they came for dinner
