Greg had predicted that the Nepal Cottage Resort would look much nicer when we returned from the trek and he was right ..neat, orderly, colorful IMG 2730 Headed out to pick up some Timur pepper
and some handicrafts Greg spent some of his morning here getting a shave and hair cut Are the best barbers all in South Asia? And then we set off on our commercial trek starting in Thamel We visited a place that sold hand-made paper
Very nice colors and patterns Also in B&W Back to the street... ... and on to a quick lunch at a chicken fast food place Look familiar?
The sandwiches were quite acceptable The place even served espresso ... and it had Indian TV ... which Greg and Brigitte found riveting Then we headed south through the spice section
Past chunks of red and black salt and mounds and jars of chillies Peppercorns too Then further south in the sari district Such colors! We glanced off kitchen wares
Before finally locating printed cotton fabric The merchant who sold us a few meters of different prints We returned via the beads market IMG 4349 Then out into a plaza where there were heavier fabrics on display
There was everywhere a lot of hubbub Richshaws for hire Donated? Dharmadhaatu Stupa - Thahiti Chowk in front of a Buddhist institute
Shoppers still in serious footwear On the way back we checked out a few places that we'd heard or read about ... and then we went for dinner at a Turkish restaurant What, no momos? no dal bhat? It was wonderful food, reminding me of Nikki and Austin's wedding feast
It was a great pleasure to be here!
